Milton Kansteiner Obituary

On Saturday, October 23, 2021, Milton “Cotton” John Kansteiner, of Weimar, passed away at the age of 89. He was a beloved father and “Popo” to his family.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Hubbard Funeral Home, 216 East Jackson, Weimar, TX 78962.  Graveside service will be private.

Milton was born in Columbus to Alvin and Frieda Kansteiner on March 29,1932.  He went to school at Shaws Bend and Wildwood.  He married Rita “Shorty” Marie Wulf on May 6, 1957 in Hallettsville. They went on to have four sons, Larry (who passed away as an infant), Mark, Steven and Allen. Milton enjoyed his work as a television repairman for Hluchanek TV and Radio for several years and later at Utex.  He also served in the National Guard as a Tanker for eight years.  He was actively involved in the Weimar community and was a member of the Weimar Fire Department, United Church of Christ and Four Dots Band.  He also coached Little League and in his later years, was a regular spectator at his grandkids’ sporting events. He loved picking pecans, listening to Molly B and polka music, inventing new gadgets to use around the house, and cheering on his favorite Houston Astros. You always knew Popo was around when you heard him whistling.

Milton is preceded in death by his wife, Rita, son, Larry, parents, Alvin and Frieda, brother, Edwin “Peanut” Kansteiner and daughter-in-law, Janice Kansteiner.

Milton is survived by his children, Mark and wife Terri, Steven and Irene, and Allen.  Four grandchildren Ashley and husband Keith, Chance and wife Heather, Clay and wife Shannon, and Karlee.  Three great Grandchildren, Addison, Greyson and Cooper.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Weimar Little League.

The family of Milton wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff and residents of Parkview Manor in Weimar for being there for him in his later years.
