Marjorie Grunewald Obituary

Marjorie Grunewald, 80, resident of Weimar, Texas, passed away on March 7th, 2021 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

On October 19th, 1940, she was born to Anton and Frances (Klozik) Stary in Moulton, Texas. She graduated from Moulton High School and was able to attend her 50th class reunion last year which she truly enjoyed.

After graduation Marjorie moved to Weimar, Texas where she worked at Rudy's Cafe. At the cafe she met Frank Grunewald. Their first date was on May 15th, 1963 and on June 22nd, 1963 they were engaged and married on October 12th,1963. They were married for 49 years at the time of his death in 2012. On February 12th, 1965, they welcomed their only child Marshell. Marjorie also had two granddaughters, Amanda and Kyra, that she loved dearly, if you knew Marjorie you knew that she loved her faithful companion Trixie whom she talked about constantly.

Marjorie was a cook at the cafeteria at St. Michael School for many years and loved her job and loved being around children.

She loved to cook and bake and was proud of her recipes that were published in Taste of Home, Catholic Life Magazine, and Texas Co-op Power Magazine.

She was a long-time member of KJZT and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors by Daughter: Marshell Haley& husband Mike Granddaughter: Amanda DeLaRosa Granddaughter: Kyra Deramus & husband Phillip Step-grandson: Anthony Haley & wife Naomi Brother in law & Sister-in-law: Raymond & Evelyn Grunewald Sister-in-law: Faye Guenther Nephew: john Guenther & wife Rachel Niece: Shannon Williamson & husband Charles Niece: Kim Elstner & husband Craig Niece: Kelli Grunewald Great Nieces: Addison & Avery Elstner Great Nephews: Cayden & Carter Wilson, & Joshua Williamson.

Proceeded in Death by Parents -Anton & Frances Stary, Husband - Frank C. Grunewald, Brother-in-law - Ronnie Guenther, Granddaughter - Stacey DeLaRosa, & Great Grandbaby Deramus.

Visitation will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Weimar, TX on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Interment to follow in St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery.
