Elisa Herrera Martinez

Lisa (Elisa) Martinez passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 25 at the age of 85.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Cipriano, to whom she had been married 53 years at the time of his passing in 2009.
She was born December 10, 1937, to Fidela and Trinidad Herrera in Gregory Texas.
After Lisa and Cip married, they lived at Pierce Ranch near Wharton until they moved to Weimar in 1963. Lisa worked hard all her life, at the same time raising two children and caring for her family. She was a waitress at several of the cafés in town and Nickerson Farms. She also worked at Happy Hen for several years. She and Cip were two of the first people that drove to Utex in Humble every day, training on the machines that were eventually moved to the cotton gin in Weimar. This was temporary until the current Utex plant was built in 1975.  She retired from Utex in 2000 after 25 years of service.
Lisa was one of the founding members of Calvary Baptist Church here in Weimar.  She loved the Lord and was faithful to him until the end.
She was a huge Houston Astros fan since the early 70s and watched them every day that they were on TV.
Lisa is survived by her daughter, Maggy Adame and husband Isaac of Weimar and son Noah, and wife Dianne of Houston.  
Also surviving her are three grandchildren: Levi Adame and wife Traci of Seguin, Joshua Martinez and fiancé Andrea of Houston, and Alexis Perez and husband Eladio of Lexington Park, Maryland. She has two great grandchildren which were her joy in life: Luke Adame and Naomi Perez.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews of which two she was very close to:  Johnny Perez of Schulenburg and Lou Perez of Aransas Pass.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5 from 6 – 8 pm at Hubbard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 6 at 10:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church in Weimar, followed by internment at Weimar Masonic Cemetery.  
Pallbearers will be Joshua Martinez, Hilario Castillo, Philip Arriaga, JoJo Delarosa, Paul Perez, Fidel Perez, Roy Perez Jr.
