Clara Foyt Ellison, 89, of Weimar, Texas, passed away on August, 15, 2022.

Clara Foyt Ellison was born December 27, 1932 in Edna, Texas to Frank and Annie Hanicak Foyt. She was the youngest of 6 children with 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She attended Edna High School and graduated valedictorian of her class. She fell in love with her sweetheart Cecil Lavern Ellison her senior year and they married on May 22, 1951 in Beaumont, Texas. Cecil worked in the oil field and they moved from Beaumont to Victoria and then to Columbus. When their oldest child started school in 1958, they decided to settle down and raise their family in Weimar.

Cecil and Clara leased the Humble gas station next to the Highway Motor Company on the east side of town. Clara delivered the Houston Chronicle paper while Cecil ran the gas station, all this while raising five children; Shirley Jo, Cecil Ray, Ginny Marie, William Frank, and La Verne Ann.

Clara went to work for Hill Bank & Trust while they purchased the Kana Texaco station on the west side of town. Then they expanded their business and purchased the Texaco Distributorship. Clara would leave her job at Hill Bank and head to the distributorship to do paperwork. They expanded the business again by purchasing the Texaco Distributorship in La Grange. Clara ran the business in La Grange while Cecil ran the Weimar business until Cecil passed in 2012.

Clara loved her children, grandchildren (13) and great grandchildren (7); she would give them the shirt off her back if they needed it.
